Renovate, Remodel and Reconfigure a Duplex with Studio Unit – Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Project Type: 1950’s Duplex Exterior Renovation and makeover of the Studio Unit space
Objective: Update the building exterior to not only be weather-tight, but to meet existing neighborhood aesthetic and hurricane standards. Reconfigure the Studio Unit entirely and modernize it to existing competitive rental levels after existing long-term tenant vacated the premises.
Scope of Work: Structural basics included the implementation of hurricane grade roof and roof strappings, exterior weather protection and site grading. The vacated studio apartment offered the opportunity to do a total apartment redo. .
Details: Exterior painting, new roof, repair of existing fencing and landscaping made a big difference in updating the exterior appearance of the property. This exterior renovation gave the property what it needed and created aesthetics that are now on par with the neighborhood. Functional upgrades included the required hurricane protection for the area that resulted in lower insurance costs and protection of the property
.The Studio Apartment
- The renovated, remodeled and reconfigured interior took the Studio Unit from a dark, monochromatic, poorly configured space to one of brightness, color and high functionality using creative space planning (now with a well-organized, built-in closet) and innovative lighting to create the feeling of separate rooms within an open studio space.
